Who we are

Run by brothers.
Built on hospitality.

Fine Grind is a family-run business founded by brothers Matt and James in 2013. With more than three decades in hospitality between us, we started as one café on Tunbridge Wells High Street — now we run two permanent sites and a touring events arm.

We don't outsource the things that matter. Our coffee is roasted by hand by our founding roaster. Our food is made fresh, not assembled. And our tight-knit team brings that same family care to every event — from an intimate private christening to a peak-hour Glastonbury service.

Word from the field

What clients tell us.

Trusted by festival organisers & private clients across the UK.

The Fine Grind bar was a queue magnet from open to last call. Specialty coffee at festival pace — without dropping a single cup.

Calm, professional and properly set up. Our guests still talk about the coffee — and the smell of the espresso machine through the marquee.

Every private event is bespoke — final pricing depends on guest numbers, menu, site access and timings. FAQ

The questions
we get asked.

Anything we haven't covered? Drop us a line at events@finegrindevents.co.uk.

How much does it cost?
Every event is bespoke. Hire-only packages start from £1,250 +VAT and rise with crew, kit and build complexity. Inclusive coffee-and-cakes pricing depends on guest numbers and the menu you'd like — see the Packages section above for starting figures. Bespoke luxury, multi-cart and brand/film work from £7,500 +VAT. Send your brief for a tailored quote within one working day.
How far in advance should we book?
For peak season (May–September) and weekends, three to six months is ideal — Glastonbury-scale events we'll often hold dates a year out. Shorter notice is always worth a call; if we have a van free, we'll make it work.
Do you do brand activations, film & TV?
Yes — and it's some of our favourite work. Branded carts, custom cups, signature menus and white-glove service for activations, launches and on-set craft. Priced as a Premium-equivalent day rate from £2,500 +VAT, with 15–25% off day 2+ on multi-day runs. Send the brief and we'll spec it properly.
How long do you need to set up and pack down?
For a standard bar service, allow 60–90 minutes to set up and around 45 minutes to pack down. Larger builds with bespoke bars or branded fronts need a longer call — we'll confirm exact timings once we know the site and access.
What equipment do you bring?
Our touring kit runs two 2-group La Marzocco Linea machines paired with three Ceado on-demand grinders set to a three-second, 17g dose — the same spec we trust through a peak-hour Glastonbury service. We also bring filter batch brew, iced options, and full power, water and waste solutions where needed.
Do you need power and water on site?
Ideally yes — a 32A single-phase supply and a potable water feed keeps us at full speed. No services? We carry generators and water tanks and will spec the right setup with you ahead of the day.
How many drinks can you serve an hour?
With four baristas, a runner, food prep and two on service, a single bar comfortably pushes 250–300 specialty drinks an hour without dropping quality. For bigger crowds we'll scale the team and add bars rather than rush the cup.
What does the day actually look like?
We arrive early, build the bar, dial in the grinders and brief the team before doors. Through service you'll get a calm, well-staffed bar making proper coffee — not a queue-management exercise. After the last drink we strip, clean and leave the site as we found it.
Can the bar be branded for our event?
Yes. From subtle co-branding to a fully wrapped bar front, menus and team t-shirts, we'll work to your brand guidelines. Share what you have at enquiry and we'll come back with options and a quote.
